MOTHER NATURE TAKES SECOND STRAIGHT NORTH AMERICAN CUP!
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI. (August 28, 2004) -- Though considered an underdog, her formidable talents for ruining race
programs, allowed Mother Nature to grab her second straight North American Cup victory,
forcing cancellation of the 11th Annual North American Cup Wisconsin Challenge Series
event which was to have been held at Dells Motor Speedway.
Early morning rains and the forecast, backed up by local radar
summaries indicated a continued unpleasant day, forcing officials of Dells Motor Speedway
and the Wisconsin Challenge Series to cancel the program at 9:30 a.m., well in advance of
the scheduled program. Rains did continue throughout the day, proving the decision
to be a correct one.
Unfortunately, the August 28th program, was already a make-up
event. The North American Cup event, which had originally been scheduled for July 3rd,
also fell victim to rain.
Due to the significant number of late season specials, and the
Dells Motor Speedway's own forthcoming championship night, both the track and series are
in agreement not to attempt a second reschedule of the event.
Dells Motor Speedway is salted to host the 2005 Wisconsin
Challenge Series opener on Saturday April 9th. The Dells Motor Speedway has hosted
the WCS opening race the past two seasons with a great deal of success. This past
year a series record 54 cars had checked in for competition.
Dells Motor Speedway will now host it's final scheduled weekly
racing program, it's Season Championships, on Saturday Night September 4th.
The Wisconsin Challenge Series will conclude it's season with
it's next race at Marshfield Speedway on Saturday evening September 11th.
The event, the Rainbow Bingo and Casino 80 at Marshfield
Speedway, will feature the longest main event of the season at the half-mile paved oval.
it is also the longest race contested in WCS history on a half-mile track.
Up to 23 cars are slated to take the green flag for the contest,
which is determined through qualifications, and a pair of 25 lap qualifying races.
Pit gates will open for the race at 2:00 p.m. and an ample practice session will be
available to the drivers. The Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m., with the all important
qualifying which will set the first 16 cars of the 23 car starting grid taking place at
6:00 p.m. Racing events themselves will take place at 7:30 p.m.
Joining as a support division for the race will be the 4 Cylinder class which will be
hosting it's point championship program, and the 2-Man Cruisers which will conclude the
event.
The adult admission for this impressive show is just $12.
